Everyone today has too much to do and too little time. You often feel overwhelmed with your duties, tasks and responsibilities. The challenge for you is to simplify your life in such a way that you spend more time doing the things that are most important to you and less time doing those things that are not important at all. You see, we are all unique individuals with our own values, vision, purpose and goals.
Each one of us has a different way of achieving a true balance.True balance is what you experience when you feel clear and focused and everything in your life feels like it is in perfect harmony. You go through your day with courage, confidence and purpose.
People experience true balance when they find and operate from their balance point, a state that is unique to each individual. It is from your balance point that you experience the highest level of clarity, commitment, strength, and confidence to pursue your ambitions, personally and professionally. The key to happiness, fulfilment, and success in any area of life and work is to start from the right place-your personal balance point-and to be guided and powered by this clarity and commitment.
So how do you discover your balance point? There are five key components that make up your balance point and only you can uncover the answer.
1. Your Values
Your values lie at the core of your character and your personality. Values are the foundation of your self-concept. They are the primary drivers and motivators that push you forward.Â They determine who you are, and who you are not, what matters to you, and what does not. You need to ask yourself, What qualities do I think are important in my character? What qualities do I admire in others? When I look at all the facets of my life, which are most important to me? Of the roles I play which roles give me the greatest sense of meaning and purpose? To achieve balance you must first become crystal clear about what matters to you and what does not.
2. Your Vision
If you could design the perfect life without limitations of any kind what would your life look like? What would your perfect job be? What is your ideal family life? What kind of social life would make you feel supported? What would vibrant health look and feel like for you? In your perfect life how would you spend your free time? Being able to visualise what you want and become very clear about it gives you a target to aim at when you begin to set goals and take actions to make your dreams a reality.
3. Your purpose
Why are you here, what gives you meaning, and why do you do what you are doing rather than a thousand other things? Where do you feel fully engaged and truly balanced? Where do you feel that you contribute or serve something beyond yourself? You will always feel more balanced when your time is spent on things that matter to you. You will always feel happier when you feel connected to something beyond yourself.
4. Your Goals
To live a great life with meaning a purpose where you feel fully engaged in all that you do you need to set clear, specific goals for your life and your future. You must clearly identify what it is that you want, make a plan to achieve it, and then work on that plan every single day. Having that plan and knowing why and what you are working towards keeps you focused and grounded so you can maintain your feeling of balance.
5. Time Management
You need to avoid distraction and stop procrastinating. Make a list and prioritise it, this will help you feel calm and grounded and ensure that the important things get done. Commit to starting and completing each task one at a time instead of trying to juggle 10 things at once and getting nothing completed. And, if you can learn to do more of the things that make you happy, less of the things that don't bring you joy, stop doing things that don't matter, and start doing things that do, you will find yourself achieving more then you ever imagined possible.
When you learn how to blend your values, vision, purpose, goals and priorities into a clear life plan that reflects all the aspects of your unique personality, you will be able to establish and operate from your own unique balance point.
When you operate from your own personal balance point, you will enjoy unshakable self-confidence and self esteem. You will achieve complete balance between your personal and professional ambitions and know that you are making every day count.
